The Mortgage Process From Start To Finish

The Mortgage Process From Start To Finish

by Steve Hill

At times it can seem like it takes forever for your mortgage application to complete. One delay after the next, it is either the broker that seems to be delaying the process and if it is not the broker it is the mortgage provider or the solicitors. There are so many people involved that it is never easy to know who to call next to seek an update. In this article, I am going to explain the whole mortgage process from start to finish, I hope this will make things a little easier for people to understand.

My name is Steve Hill and I have been working in the insurance industry for the majority of my adult life. I have mainly been involved with life assurance policies, investments, pension plans and mortgages.

This mortgage process starts with the initial enquiry, this would in most cases be to an insurance broker. The broker will have an expertise of the mortgage market place, are likely to have special deals and are able to offer people a lower rate of interest than is likely to be available on the high street. The financial adviser of the brokeridge will be able to assess which mortgage product is the most suitable in their clients circumstances and will push the application through to a speedy conclusion.

The financial adviser is likely to ask you to come to the brokeridge for a meeting or may well pop round to your house. He/she will then either key in the information that you have provided into an online application or onto a paper application.

The next stage is for the mortgage provider to instruct the valuation. Hopefully the valuation will come back without the property being under-valued as the provider will then be able to issue the mortgage offer.

It is then up to the solicitors to start of all of their work incuding arranging a completion date.
